See installation steps below.

The 1971 and earlier CB450 and CL450 used a different style of plastic filter housing. These filters fit the original housing on the models shown below.

Original filters for the 450's have become quite scarce. Scrambler Cycle had these filters manufactured to help out those that still want to run original style filters on your 450.

Installation -

1. It is usually best to install the original plastic cover over the filter first. Be sure to try and fit the flange into the groove on the plastic cover. Over the years these plastic covers can become a bit distorted depending on how carefully they were installed. You may have to make some slight bends to the filter flange and/or the plastic cover.
2. Place carb clamp onto intake rubber. (carb clamp not included )
3. Install filter onto carb starting with rubber intake.
4. Slide filter into place and make sure rear crossover flange is seated in the filter crossover. (make sure the rubber gasket is still on the lip of the tube, this gasket is not included) It might help to use grease or soap to make the fit easier.
5. Install the bolt for the top forward mount but do not tighten.
6. Insert the bolt through center of filter cover and filter. You may have to twist filter and housing slightly to align bolt with threaded hole.
7. Tighten bolt but be sure you are not cross-threaded!
8. Tighten bolt on upper forward mount.
9. Tighten clamps on rubber boots to carbs.
